Navarrería street in Pamplona has become an important meeting point. The high concentration of bars and the lack of adequate terraces for the number of consumers who frequent the area has lead to the street becoming an extension of these premises.
These factors, together with the habit of consumers to meet in the street, generate a series of problems that affect the coexistence between residents and consumers, especially on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, between 19:30 and 00:30 hours.
The objects Tesiento, Aromeada, Julia and Quitacoño are used to make visible the problems of the neighbours, with the aim of creating awareness in the latter.
Tesiento: an armchair made frome 464 cans collected in the street
Aromeada: XL air freshener that simulates the smell of urine
Quitacoño: a backpack that recreates a door, symbolising the traffic problem
Julia: video showing the interruption of Julia’s sleep due to noise pollution
However, given the lack of interest on the part of the visitors, a free beer tasting is subsequently organised to encourage their participation and interaction between the two. The beer acts as an intermediary to start the conversation. With this informal event, the aim is also to change the perception of alcohol as a trigger for problems and instead associate it more with culture and locality.
